Compressive strength
Compressive strength describes the resistance of a specimen to failure under a squeezing load. It differs from flexural strength and cannot by itself establish that paving is suitable for vehicles. Specimen preparation, moisture and direction affect comparisons. Actual performance also depends on thickness, base construction, load distribution, joints and installation quality, which must be designed for the project.
